Back To List Neidpath Castle
Neidpath Castle is a dramatic and ancient castle perched above the River Tweed. Open by appointment, all year for private visits and events.

Steeped in history since 1300, Neidpath has welcomed kings and queens and philosophers, as well as repelling Reivers and Cromwellian Troops.

The romantic and tragic story of Mary Queen of Scots, is told in a series of stunning, world class batiks, hung in the Great Hall.

Sir Walter Scott wrote a poem about 'The Maid of Neidpath', Jean Douglas, who haunts the castle having died of a broken heart.

We offer bespoke tours for small or large groups and can lay on everything from 'Tea, Coffee & Cake', to a full 'Medieval Banquet' and 'Scottish Ceilidh'.
