Back To List Cairngorms National Park - CairnGorm Mountain
Cairn Gorm Mountain is Britain's 6th highest mountain, the views from near its summit are accessible to visitors of all ages and abilities thanks to the funicular railway (the UK's longest and highest) which takes visitors on a 2km journey up the mountain from the car park at the Base Station at 635m to the Ptarmigan Top Station at 1097m above sea level. There you will find a viewing terrace, mountain exhibition, shop and restaurant and you can even mail a postcard from the highest post box in the British Isles. To protect the plateau outwith our wintersports operation, funicular passengers are not permitted to exit the top station to go onto the mountain unless booked on a guided walk.
